I just had a great mini-tourette with
the Houston Jones fellas through Bishop, CA, Las
Vegas, and Los Angeles. We drove across Death Valley,
and were pleasantly surprised by a great place to stop
in Panamint Springs. Not much there except for one
restaurant/bar, but they had incredible burgers, and
a selection of beer from almost everywhere you could
think of. It was a pleasant 110 degrees, but had
cooled off to 105 by the time we got to Vegas. We
stayed at the Howard Johnson's Motel/Wedding
Chapel/Cuban Restaurant, and checked in right behind
Elvis (the jumpsuited one of course), who was the
preacher at the chapel. As a matter of fact there were
Elvi of all ages, sizes, and shapes everywhere we
went, but that's nothing new to all of you veteran
gamblers. However, I'm pretty sure I saw Joey Bishop
sitting with Gabriel of Sedona at a transvestite sushi
'n tacos joint, but the light was in my eyes, so I
can't swear to it.
Other recent dates include shows with
The Devil Makes Three, Biscuit Burners, Two High
String Band, Keith Greeninger, and Druha Trava. I'll
be playing more with some of these folks down the
line, so be sure to check my gig page at
www.chojo.net
for details. The Devil Makes Three recorded two of
the shows and will be releasing the CD soon ( look for
it at
www.thedevilmakesthree.com ).
Billy Cardine (Biscuit Burners) and I were lucky
enough to hook up with Keith Greeninger, and record on
a couple of tracks from his new CD, "Glorious
Peasant", which was just released on May 20th ( info
at
www.keithgreeninger.com
).
Have a great summer, and I hope to see
you at one of my shows soon......
